Audio Engineering Society Convention – Oct. 28-31, 2004
Moscone Convention Center,
San Francisco, CA

Neural Audio Corporation staff joined 415 exhibitors and 16,000 people in attending the 117th Audio Engineering Society Convention from Thursday, October 28 through Sunday, October 31, 2004 at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco, California.

And once again 5.1 surround sound was "Topic A" at the audio convention. John Strawn, chairman of the event said, "Not since the introduction of the compact disk has a new sound recording format made so dramatic an impact on the industry."

Neural Audio was in the thick of things as panelists for Surround Sound for Digital Radio (Robert Reams), Spatial Coding of Surround Sound: A Progress Report (Robert Reams) and Digital Broadcast Radio Forum (Geir Skaaden). Neural’s participation on the surround sound panel featured the only LIVE 5.1 discreet surround sound demonstration at the convention over the XM Satellite Radio system. Also on display was the Neural 5.1 Discrete Surround Sound Car featuring Neural’s SEE (Spatial Environment Engine) where convention-goers got a chance to hear 5.1 Discrete Surround Sound for HD Radio and Satellite Radio.

Neural Audio President Mark Seigle said, "AES San Francisco was a great opportunity for broadcast professionals to get a real-world understanding of what it takes to broadcast 5.1 in an infrastructure built for legacy stereo."
