About Neural Audio

The idea of Neural Audio was born in Paul Hubert’s garage-converted recording studio in Seattle in the mid nineties. Hubert was working on digital sound libraries for major record labels and his partner Robert Reams was building DSP based digital recording tools designed to emulate the sound of famous high end analog recording equipment. This was a great adventure until one day in 1996 they both heard some of their work from a major release played back on an early version of MP3.

Depressing – the MP3 data compression had removed all the detail and warmth of the analog sound they had worked so hard to create.

Reams got fired up on the idea of finding a way to protect the artist and producers artistic intent against data compression. Thus the idea for codec conditioning was born.

Almost a decade later the company and the technology has evolved. However, the fundamental core value of the Neural solutions remains the same; Neural designs and sells audio technology that will interoperate with legacy systems while protecting and preserving the artist’s original intent by preparing the content for the given distribution constraints that exists.

Neural Audio Corporation, a privately owned company headquartered in Kirkland, Washington, develops digital signal processing technology. Neural’s offerings include solutions for a simple and economical transition to the digital era. Neural’s appliances allow seamless capture, editing and management of analog, digital, linear, compressed, stereo and 5.1 content within the broadcasters existing 2.0 infrastructure. Interoperability is the challenge. Neural is the answer.
